The first glass kiln was ignited in 1548 in the picturesque, mountainous region of Northern Bohemia, known today as Crystal Valley.
It was here that a new industry emerged over the next several hundred years in the workshops and ateliers scattered across the majestic Jizera mountains. In the heart of it all was, and still is, a small town called Jablonec nad Nisou, where 25 independent glassmakers came together exactly four centuries later in 1948 to establish one supreme crystal manufacturer: Preciosa.

Both, Preciosa Maxima and Viva cut has been recognized for its quality and has been used by many brands as it offers superior quality and clarity. Preciosa has been trusted by manufacturers in the garment industry for years. Preciosa Maxima quality was launched a few years back as Precioa’s premium crystal line.

Maxima is our premium, lead-free product line of crystals that meets
the highest industry standards of quality and ecological certification.
These crystals boast unrivalled optical-aesthetic properties,
outstanding resilience and exceptional durability.
- Maxima has additional cuts which makes it’s brilliance the top in the market for branded crystal components verses our standard Viva cut.
- Maxima has additional cuts for added brilliance and better optical properties
- Maxima has stricter sorting and quality control
- Maxima foil is more durable/stable and made from silver
- Maxima has silver reflective layer that has a higher light reflection versus aluminum for the Viva reflective coating

- The Maxima stones have a premium AB coating that is little bluer (more like SW Shimmer??? Not sure if we can say). Viva AB is a typical AB.

- Maxima foil is our top grade. Because it is made with silver it is more durable/stable
- Maxima foiling and adhesive is our top grade, the foiling is made of silver adding to more brilliance and also making the backing of the stone lighter and less noticeable in lighter garments. Perfect for wedding
- Maxima has silver reflective layer that has a higher light reflection versus aluminum for the Viva reflective coating
- Both Maxima and Viva pass the most stringent stress testing including multiple washing and sweat test. While Viva holds up well for garments being washed a lot and for most cases fine for costumes/garments subject to a lot of sweat the silver in the Maxima product holds up better over time with excessive sweating.
- The hot fix glue is the same for both Maxima and Viva
- However, Maxima the glue doesn’t come to the full edge of stone so that there isn’t any bleeding out beneath the stone on fabric or glue will not seep out .
- The silver color of the back of the Maxima coating is lighter and not as dark as Viva. This is important for lighter colored garments ,particularly wedding, as the back of the stones are less noticeable.
